Description
Vishnu – The God of Preservation. The Protector, provider of Nectar & Abundance during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the cosmic ocean), from which arose Kamdhenu – the provider of Plenty.
Contemporary Indian artist Ramesh Gorjala was born into a family of weavers, and at a young age he learned kalamkari art. After mastering this traditional form, he went on to earn a degree in fine arts from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University in Hyderabad. His original artwork now combines tradition and modernity with effortless ease, bringing gods and goddesses to life in a fresh approach.
Steeped in the kalamkari tradition and its warm colors, art by Ramesh Gorjala is unique in its rendition of Indian mythological figures, including Hanuman, Krishna, Vishnu and Ganesha. The intricate detailing in each subject is a narrative from a mythology sequence and captivates the viewer’s attention. The typical kalamkari process of using a fine pen to accentuate block-printed colors is evident in his work. He uses gold liberally in his work.
